Let’s get right into the cards that were pulled for the day and see what messages they hold. Yes, they. Two cards come out this morning. The 8 of coins or pentacles and the 4 of coins. At first glance these cards look nothing alike, but as I begin to look deeper into them, I can see they have something very similar to share.
8 of coins
The 8 of coins card depicts a family scene in a room in front of a round window setting. The prisms of light are beaming in from the sun outside, casting different colors into the room from the stained-glass design. In the center of the round window is a circular mandala like pattern in the stained glass. Around the center circle, you can see 8 circle spaces, 6 of which the pictures have been put into place, showing the growth of a butterfly. The 6 phases shown are from the branch itself to the egg, to the caterpillar growing, then to a cocoon. The 7th circle picture is being placed by the male in the photo. You can see him holding the picture with both hands, the back of his head, the side of his face, and half of the wing of butterfly in the picture. Below him on the floor sits a brown and white dog right in front of him. The dog appears to be looking a child that may be around 2 or 3. She wears a lilac tutu and a muave colored body suit. She looks like she might be in the midst of a dance with her arms spread open and one foot up with a bend in the knee. The floor is colorful like the stained-glass and light comes in moreso behind her because the remaining circle hasn’t been put in. The woman sitting to the left is holding the last piece. It shows the butterfly in its full form. The woman appears to be straight as if she had just looked at the total transformation of the butterfly and it shook something inside of her, so she finds herself staring off into the distance… lost in a memory.
The feeling I get from this image of the woman and her facial expression is that her realization is one that poses a question of, “well, what is next?” There is a feeling of wondering if she this is complete, and I let this go… where will I go from here? I can get a sense of the cycles we go through in life on a small scale like reaching goals and accomplishing tasks. I can also see the larger cycles within this card like the life, death, rebirth cycle. There’s a nostalgic feeling in the air. Memories for her playing out, as the child dances and laughs beside her, full of life. The woman processes all those memories that are rushing through, and it leaves her wondering about what she can experience or create next. She has a pencil tucked behind the ear. She’s ready, but I feel she must let this one piece go, hanging it up on the wall/window herself, allowing for her total transformation, before she can begin to create and answer that burning question of what is next.
4 of Coins
In this card, a woman with dark hair sits in a deep red colored dress, on what appears to be a bed. The comforter has a red flower pattern on it that matches the color of her dress. She also has a matching purse that has a gold band attached to it. This gold band goes from the purse that lays on the bed, wraps around her hand into the palm, comes out and wraps around the arm, all the way up to the neck. It appears as though the band may be wrapped a few times around the neck. She wears gold earrings and a red stoned ring. She has one hand bent in the air with an open hand and her fingers spread apart. In between each space of the fingers, she has a coin-One gold, one platinum, one copper, and one silver. Her facial expression is very interesting. The first that pops into my mind is an expression of “hardness”. It’s as if she heard a sound or saw someone and turned her head with her eyes going into this cold side eye. This expression makes me feel like there is worry, in a sense, of who is there or what’s to come, but there is also this feeling of, “try me!” or “don’t even try it”. The way her hands are open with the coins, it makes it look like she’s about to show you something, like a magic trick. The look could be saying, ” Look what I can do!” There is just so much in this card!
I feel this card is one that shows the energy of not only what you have, but what you could have. You are taking what you already have and thinking of using it to get what you really want. There is desire in her eyes, you see. Maybe that “worry” in the expression is actually curiosity, for what could be. She’s lived, she done a lot, accumulated all the things, but there’s one thing she wants. Much like with the butterfly, this woman is wondering what could be next, but it shows the desire more so in this card- a yearning.
Complete the cycle
You may find yourself coming to an end of a certain cycle in your life. This could be a lesson, a goal reached, a particular experience, or even a relationship. The thing about cycles and life itself is that it is never-ending. Although one might be complete, a new cycle will begin.
You are being asked to reflect upon what you have built, achieved, accomplished, and then to open up to what you want to create next. You will take the lessons you have learned with you to continue on. All the things you didn’t like, all the things you loved, what worked, and what didn’t… you will use this knowledge in your next adventure.
A part of you might be feeling resistant to letting go of certain things to begin to open up to what could be, because you are unsure of what is to come. Spirit says, ” You are the key to knowing.” You are the key, because you are the co-creator of this cycle. Your soul knows what it needs to continue this path or path, and spirit says, ” Do not doubt yourself. You are fully capable of moving in the right direction, for it is never wrong.”
You can sit for a while with all your things you’ve done over the years in gratitude, but don’t forget to open your heart to all the possibilities of what’s to come. You can sit for a while, allowing the memories to play like a movie in the mind showing you the steps you have taken in your transformation from caterpillar to butterfly. You must fly.
Reflection
Ask yourself what is it that you desire to experience next?
